President: Paul Loveluck |
| Paul Loveluck was born in Maesteg in the Llynfi Valley in South Wales. After being
educated at Maesteg Grammar School he went on to study Economics at University of Wales
College Cardiff and subsequently entered the Civil Service working at the Board of Trade
and The Welsh Office. After a six month secondment to the Wales Tourist Board in 1984, as acting Chief Executive, he was appointed in the permanent role and led the Wales Tourist Board for twelve years. During this time he was active in promoting Wales nationally and internationally and was involved with Cardiff Singer of the World. In June 1992 he was awarded the CBE for services to the tourism industry. In 1996 he left the Wales Tourist Board to take up the position of Chief Executive of the Countryside Council for Wales, based in Bangor, where he was concerned with the protection of the environment and improving access to the countryside. During this period he was also Chairman of the Welsh Chamber Orchestra. After retiring from the Countryside Council for Wales in 2002 he was appointed to the position of President of the National Museum of Wales - a role which he is still currently undertaking. Paul has also served as a magistrate in Cardiff since 1982 and transferred to the Montgomeryshire Bench last year. Paul is an avid supporter of the arts. He is currently President of DAW (Drama Association of Wales), President of the Maesteg Male Voice Choir and now, President of Côr Merched Maldwyn. He enjoys attending concerts, opera and the theatre (though not personally participating) and upon moving to Montgomery in 2006 he became a member of the Board of the Gregynog Festival. In 2006 Paul was a member of the panel set up by the Welsh Assembly Government to review the funding of the Arts in Wales. We are very pleased and honoured that Paul has agreed to be the President of Côr Merched Maldwyn. |
